Why do we love New Orleans and why do many people visit and never leave?
As a life long resident from a maternal line that predates the Louisiana Purchase, I know the lure of New Orleans remains a mystery to most outsiders and some insiders. But, to me, it remains the most romantic city in North America. As I walk the streets of our historic architectural neighborhoods after a humid summer afternoon rain with the smells of ancestral Creole cooking and the violet skies above, I am seduced to remember childhood moments or those special dates with family and loved ones. Newcomers and visitors often experience similar romantic moments that harkens back to youthful European trips resulting in them setting new roots in our beloved Nouvelle Orleans.
